Patrick van Rooyen is the Executive Director of the American Academy of Health and Beauty as well as the Managing Partner and CEO of GoGlobal Educational Initiatives (2015), a company providing a range of services in international education. With thirty years of international business experience, he guided an independent, select and professional business network that specialized in relationship management, executive education, international business and economic development, working in over 70 countries. He has directed a range of highly successful business projects from public listings and multinational business activities in trade and economic development accomplishments globally.

Missy is the lead Nail Instructor at American Academy of Health & Beauty. She has been a Nail Technician since 2015 and became an instructor shortly thereafter. Missy also owns an in-home based nail spa, Sugarcoat, where she enjoys providing quality nail care services that keep guests coming back. She specializes in nail art and is CND certified in Shellac, acrylic, and gel application. As an instructor, she believes learning should be fun. Her goal is to teach every aspect of nail application, sanitation, and the latest in nail trends while building proficiency, skill, and an understanding of the importance of attitude enabling students to have a long, successful, and fulfilling career in the nail industry.

Abbie Christie
Abbie graduated from the Laird Institute of Spa Therapy in 2015. After experiencing a family-like bond while attending school, she developed an even bigger passion for the skin care industry and became an instructor at Laird to share her love of the skin care industry. Abbie is passionate about result-driven skin care treatments and products in the medical esthetics world. She is certified in CoolSculpting, HydraFacial MD, Protégé, Vanquish, lash lifting, eyelash extensions and BBL laser hair removal. Abbie is also employed part-time at Pelle Medical Spa in Manchester. Abbie is warm, friendly and attentive in a way that will make you feel welcomed and relaxed. She is excited about the newest skin care trends and services to help her students become prepared for an exciting career in skin care!

Victoria (Tori) Ryder
Licensed Advanced Esthetician Licensed Esthetics Instructor Tori began her career in education in 1997 after receiving a B.A. from Wheelock College.  She has worked with all age groups in various settings.  In 2002, she studied at Antioch University and received a Master's Degree in Education. In 2007, she decided to mix her interest in science and skin care by attending Laird Institute of Spa Therapy.  Upon graduating in advanced skin care techniques, Tori has been employed in skin care centers and as an instructor of esthetics and massage therapy. She has worked with many professional skin care and make-up product lines, and has experience in medical spa and massage therapy services. Tori has gained a sound knowledge of business management through these experiences which have led her to become a part of the administrative team.

Sue joined Laird in 2006 after retiring from nursing as an RN. She brought her past experience of compliance in the health care field accreditation to Laird assisting in accrediting the school with NACCAS and complying with all State of NH and The Federal Department of Education requirements.

Lois St. John
Lois joined the school in 2006 and was instrumental in developing the Advanced Esthetic Course at the Laird Institute of Spa Therapy. She was responsible for educating successful students with her experience and knowledge of the industry. Many have gone on to open their own Spas. Prior to coming to LIST, Lois started her career in 1997 and achieved several Awards and Certificates as a Make Up Artist, Medical Esthetician, Color Analysis, Camouflage Make UpArtist, Face Forward Glymed Plus Certification, Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmetique, Dermalogica Certification, Biodroga Certification in Body Wrap Treatments, BioElements Certification, Clinical MicroDermabrasion Training, Laser Training and much more. Lois is a Member of Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists, SPSSCS., Associated Skin Care Professionals, International Council of Education, MediEsthetics Specialist, specializing in Medical Esthetics.

Dale teaches Massage Therapy at Laird Institute of Spa Therapy. She started her career in Massage in 2004 and graduated from the Esthetics program from Laird Institute in 2007. Since that time she has worked in medical spas and used her skills to develop a large client base. Her bodywork has been transitional using the Esalen technique, Rain Drop Therapy, Hypnotic Techniques for Body Workers, and Advanced Reiki II. She is an active member of ABMP (Association Bodywork & Massage Professionals).

Andrea L. Smith
Andrea assumed the role of Academic Director for the Laird Institute in 2017 and is a driving force behind launching the highly regarded Professional Development and Continuing Education Programs at the school. She has several awards from the International Dermal Institute, Certificate in “Techniques in Classroom Presentations”, she participated in the International Congress of Esthetics and Spa in Pennsylvania in 2011, the National Interstate Council of State Boards in 2012, Lash Belong Certification, Aviva Spray Tanning Certification, and Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup Advanced Training. Andrea recently attended the Milady’s Career Institute dedicated to learning about Dynamic Team Building and Student Retention. Andreas, as our Academic Director, leads a team of dedicated and highly skilled and experienced Instructors. Andrea initially joined the Institute in 2004, also pursued a career working in a highly regarded Medical Spa, returning to the Laird Institute in 2007 to pursue her instructional career, uniquely sharing with our students her knowledge of the industry and the management and operations of a successful spa. Andrea’s talent for instruction has been a gift to the students and the Institute.

Kerry Mannon
Kerry (Dates) Mannon, LMT, MBA is a graduate from Cortiva of Boston Massage Therapy School.  Kerry teaches Anatomy & Physiology, Fundamentals of Massage Therapy, Nutrition & Self-Care, as well as Eastern Modalities. She is also Clinic Instructor and Career Development Instructor at the American Academy of Health and Beauty.  She has degrees in both Psychology as well as Business which she uses daily in her massage practice.  She is in her fourth year of owning her own business.  She is licensed in Massage Therapy in the states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire and specializes in Swedish Massage, Myofascial Massage, Deep Tissue, and Sports Massage.  Kerry also brings Chair Massage to businesses and workplaces to promote employee wellness. Kerry's passion is helping people take care of themselves, physically, mentally, and energetically.  Kerry is also certified in Reiki and often incorporates Reiki in with her massages. Her primary clientele are first responders of all types.  Kerry's philosophy is that in order to take care of others, you must first take care of yourself.  She also works hard to help clients realize that massage therapy isn't just a luxury, it's a necessity.

Jaclyn Luongo
The American Academy of Health & Beauty is excited to announce the appointment of Jaclyn Luongo as the Academy Director. Jaclyn is leader of innovation in the spa industry; a licensed esthetician, make-up artist, esthetic instructor, beauty blogger, business consultant, and regional sales manager with over 20 years of experience. She has consulted and trained with some of New England's top resorts and day spas and has trained in Europe and Los Angeles with star make-up artists and skin specialists. Luongo has appeared on the Industry as a guest beauty expert, and has worked with contestants for the Miss Teen USA pageants. Jaclyn has been a volunteer for the Look Good Feel Better Program (American Cancer Society) since 2002 and has also been a guest speak for the Dress for Success Organization. In 2012 and 2017, and 2019 Jaclyn was nominated to be on the Board of Directors for Ispa and has been a Program Advisory Board Member at Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics since 2009. Jaclyn continues to contribute as a task force volunteer for Ispa since 2007. In January of 2017 Jaclyn accepted a position on the Board of Directors for the Melanoma Education Foundation and NASPRO Association.
